Thoroughly entertaining romance and adventure fantasy book. Even though it’s long, it’s a pleasure that it’s long. It only took me 2 weeks to read it because I enjoyed it enough to keep coming back to it. Some disturbing things happen towards the end though and it does make me nervous to continue with the series.

I didn't love the beginning, and not because of the characters as a lot of other reviewers remarked. I thought the characters were pretty realistic and sufficiently decent people to rally behind. Rather, it was the lack of unique action that was getting me down in what seemed to be an action book. However, once they got to the running, I started to appreciate the literary elements of the book, and by the end of the book, I was into it. It wasn't a "for fun" book for me, and it wasn't fully literary, but I think it had a good payout for being a combo of genres.

No Baggage: A Minimalist Tale of Love and Wandering by Clara Bensen

I think I heard about this book back when it came out because it got a lot of media attention for the gimmick of the book which is that two people that just started dating travel Europe together with no luggage. A minimalism book meets travelogue. In reality, the book is more about her existentialism, her strange romance with her travel companion, and a little bit about mental illness. She a very good writer so the existentialism is especially fun to read. The romance was a little difficult to read as her romantic companion is in turns withholding and teasing, and that is totally not my scene.
